Curaleaf Operates Three Medical Cannabis Dispensaries in New York and is a sponsor of Susan G. Komen for its 28th Annual Race for the Cure on September 9
NEW YORK CITY — As part of its work to support breast cancer patients, Curaleaf New York today announced it has become the first-ever medical cannabis provider to sponsor Susan G. Komen for its annual Race for the Cure 5K event in New York City.
The 28th Annual Race for the Cure race will take place on September 9 in Central Park and will bring together patients, survivors and stakeholders across the spectrum to participate in Susan G. Komen’s high-profile fundraising event for breast cancer research and breast health programs.
“Curaleaf is proud to sponsor Susan G. Komen Greater New York City on behalf of the medical cannabis community to continue supporting patients, caregivers and everyone affected by breast cancer in the greater New York City area,” said Michelle Bodner, CEO of Curaleaf New York. “Tens of thousands of patients across New York have already benefitted from medical cannabis as part of their symptom management regimen and we’re committed to providing more information and access to treatment for breast cancer patients across the state.”
“Komen Greater NYC believes that breast cancer patients should have information and access to medical cannabis as proscribed by the laws of the state in which they reside and with the guidance of their medical providers,” said organizers of Susan G. Komen Greater NYC. “As part of our commitment to supporting patients throughout their journey, we are pleased to have Curaleaf on site at the Race to provide information.”
In Susan G. Komen’s 28 years in New York City, nearly 400,000 individuals have participated in the annual Race for the Cure, raising more than $80 million to fund local breast health programs to help thousands of women and families and fund national breast cancer research. As a sponsor of this year’s Race for the Cure, Curaleaf New York leadership and staff will participate in the race and assist with the event’s fundraising goals.
Curaleaf New York operates a fully-licensed medical cannabis dispensary in Forest Hills, Queens that provides patients enrolled in the state’s medical marijuana program with access to medical-grade cannabis products and counseling. In addition to its Forest Hills location, Curaleaf New York also operates dispensaries in Newburgh and Plattsburgh and will be opening a fourth location in Carle Place on Long Island in early fall 2018. Patients may call (833) 470-5323 (LEAF) for more information or consult with their treating physician
Anyone interested in participating in Race for the Cure, donating to the event or creating a fundraising team are encouraged to register online at www.komennyc.org or onsite in Central Park on September 9 starting at 7am.
